An opportunity for Graduate Institute Students interested in/studying History!

Inspired by the pioneering “Schweizerische HistorikerInnentagungen” (Swiss Historians’ Conferences), the Swiss Network of Women Historians, in partnership with infoclio.ch and the Gosteli Foundation, is organizing an Unconference on June 7 and 8, 2024 in Berne, with the aim to discuss the state of historical studies and the historian’s profession from intersectional feminist perspectives.

With this format, we intend to bring historians together to share our personal experiences and pool our issues. The Unconference des historien*nes is not just a forum to discuss our research, we also want to discuss and reflect on our professional practices, our ways of knowing, as well as the structural challenges we face: how can we question the usual biases of our perspectives and find new ways of researching, writing and communicating history? How can we overcome the structures that condition our training and career paths, as well as our everyday professional lives? What trends are there in current research, and which areas are still too neglected?

The Unconference is an open, participatory event, in which all participants decide together on the themes and questions to be discussed. The unconference is open to students, researchers, history teachers, cultural and memory institutions, freelancers and other historians.

Further information is available on the Unconference website. Online registration is now open.

We look forward to welcoming you to Berne in June!
